Chironomid Midges

 Commonly called Lake or Rice flies have returned after the rains. They love lights at night and covered our front porch like a layer of snow when we accidentally left the light on overnight. You can hear the swarms of them that sound like whatever swarms of Rice flies sound like. Kind of like an old swamp cooler fan running in the distance. First time we’ve seen them this year. Just sayin’.
