Signs of a Hypocrite
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich was having an extramarital affair even as he led the charge against President Clinton over the Monica Lewinsky affair, he acknowledged in an interview with a conservative Christian group.
This is the kind of crap I've seen over and over again from our friends on the right. Do what I say, not what I do because if you do what I do then you'd be Newt, which is one f*cked up thing to be. That's right, thing as in "sub-human." Newt doesn't have the brains that God gave an ant if he believes that this calculated bit of honesty will somehow help his image in my eyes. All he's done is confirm my suspicions that he's one f*cked up piece of shit.

Signs of War
In an interview with Wesley Clark, a retired 4-star general (Democrat), we read about some future plans for our military. As seen at Democracy Now.
I knew why, because I had been through the Pentagon right after 9/11. About ten days after 9/11, I went through the Pentagon and I saw Secretary Rumsfeld and Deputy Secretary Wolfowitz. I went downstairs just to say hello to some of the people on the Joint Staff who used to work for me, and one of the generals called me in. He said, “Sir, you’ve got to come in and talk to me a second.” I said, “Well, you’re too busy.” He said, “No, no.” He says, “We’ve made the decision we’re going to war with Iraq.” This was on or about the 20th of September. I said, “We’re going to war with Iraq? Why?” He said, “I don’t know.” He said, “I guess they don’t know what else to do.” So I said, “Well, did they find some information connecting Saddam to al-Qaeda?” He said, “No, no.” He says, “There’s nothing new that way. They just made the decision to go to war with Iraq.” He said, “I guess it’s like we don’t know what to do about terrorists, but we’ve got a good military and we can take down governments.” And he said, “I guess if the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem has to look like a nail.”
So I came back to see him a few weeks later, and by that time we were bombing in Afghanistan. I said, “Are we still going to war with Iraq?” And he said, “Oh, it’s worse than that.” He reached over on his desk. He picked up a piece of paper. And he said, “I just got this down from upstairs” -- meaning the Secretary of Defense’s office -- “today.” And he said, “This is a memo that describes how we’re going to take out seven countries in five years, starting with Iraq, and then Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and, finishing off, Iran.” I said, “Is it classified?” He said, “Yes, sir.” I said, “Well, don’t show it to me.” And I saw him a year or so ago, and I said, “You remember that?” He said, “Sir, I didn’t show you that memo! I didn’t show it to you!”
Why do I believe this story? Because when you look at the big picture of how our current government is working it makes perfect sense. It fits the pattern.

Signs of the Truth
Five years of presidential overreaching and Congressional collaboration continue to exact a high toll in human lives, America’s global reputation and the architecture of democracy. Brutality toward prisoners, and the denial of their human rights, have been institutionalized; unlawful spying on Americans continues; and the courts are being closed to legal challenges of these practices.
The above NY Times opinion piece gets it right. It may be an opinion piece but it speaks to what anyone who has been paying attention to reality knows to be true. Our leaders are tearing our constitution to shreds, endangering our future and pulling in the bucks. It's that simple.

A Sign of "No Confidence"
It's too bad that the U.S. political system offers no way to take a vote of "no confidence," because that describes the state we're living in now. We have come to the point where nothing that the Bush administration says can—or should—be trusted. That is, the government deserves no confidence.
That's what I've been talking about and the above article in Slate spells it out from what we now know happened with North Korea back in 2002. Our fearless leader and his henchmen lied to us again and any trust anyone had in them is obviously misplaced. I have never trusted this administration and here is further proof that my gut feeling has been correct all this time. Imagine that.
