The beard has been reduced to a stylish goatee as I make my way through the hiring process with the County of Mendocino which is one of the few equitable employers in this area. The county is union and offers liveable wages and benefits which is also very rare around here.
My last regular job was with Real Goods and its taken most of 4 years to recover from my stay there. You would think that a Green Company would treat it's employees properly but I'm here to tell you that it was one of the most dysfunctional workplaces I have ever had the misfortune of working in. But I did learn how to keep a low profile due to the fact that once your supervisor finds out that you know more about what's going on than they do, they'll do anything within their power to remove you from your job. The fact that I lasted several years until I left of my own free will was a victory over my usual tendency to kick ass and not worry about keeping such a fucked up job.
As for my blogging, it will continue to be light as I work towards rejoining the rat race while trying to make ends meet until I begin earning a steady wage again. More later.
As for what the sign is I'll be posting a more recent picture as soon as I get one. Then you'll know.

I have wondered whether you were independently wealthy or teetering on bumhood. Now I know.
Have you ever had an employer that you liked and admired?
Of course. The owner of Empire Auto Parts in Healdsburg, Chris. He was one of the few who treated his employees with respect and fairness that I have worked for over the years. The majority of people I have worked for have a lot to learn about how to treat their workers.
Kudos to you for a straightforward answer. Rather than my usual smart alecky reply, I wish you luck on your job search and extend my apologies on the bumhood crack.
